Our Heritage

When stepping into our new warehouse, it was important to us to reflect on and honor where we came from. This next chapter is only possible because of the hard work of so many people over the past 28 years.

🏷️ On the far right is a pricing sheet from 1997, just before Butch started Evans Meats. Growing up in the industry, Addam remembers watching Butch review sheets like this in his recliner every Sunday afternoon.

🌾 Along the wall are several Southeastern Meats catalogs. They remind us of our roots and how far we’ve come. From a commodity meat distributor to a company focused on quality, innovation, and strong relationships with like-minded producers.

🥩 We are proud to be a licensed distributor of Certified Angus Beef, a partnership that began during our Southeastern Meats days. This plaque is one of many awards we’ve received over the years.

🗺️ At the center of the wall is the original 1965 blueprint of our Finley Boulevard warehouse. We purchased the facility in 1998 from another meat processing company. It feels fitting that the building was always meant for meat processing, and we’re proud of the work that happened there.

🪓 Above the blueprint hangs a meat cleaver that has been in the family for years. It once sat in Chase and Hunter’s old office and has long been a simple symbol of the hard work behind what we do.

📃To the left is Butch’s original resignation letter from Southeastern Meats, written when he took a leap of faith to start something of his own. The brothers felt it was an important memento and piece of the story to include.

✉️ Next to it is a letter we still proudly look back on, a thank you letter from First Lady Claudia Alta “Lady Bird” Johnson dated March 31, 1986, thanking Butch’s father for sending her a country ham during a visit to Alabama.

🐄 Above these letters is a photo of “Big T,” the prized bull of “Big Dad”, James T. Evans Sr.

🎷And finally, the photos at the end of the wall always bring a smile. They show the original three owners of Southeastern Meats celebrating in New Orleans once the company was successfully on its feet.
